Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pushed back on President Donald Trump’s suggestions that Canada might become the 51st state after Canada defeated Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off hockey championship Thursday night.
Trudeau’s comments came as Canada defeated Team USA 3-2 in an exciting overtime game in Boston. Just days before, Team USA dominated Canada in a 3-1 victory in Montreal after Canadian fans booed America’s national anthem. American fans returned the favor on Thursday, booing during the singing of “O Canada.”
“You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game,” Trudeau posted on X shortly after the championship game concluded.
