President Donald Trump shared a historical view of prayer in the United States — dating back to before there even was a United States — in his remarks commemorating the National Day of Prayer on Thursday morning.
“We’re bringing back religion in our country and we’re bringing it back quickly and strongly — because for America to be a great nation, we must always be One Nation Under God,” Trump began, sounding vaguely reminiscent of the late Ronald Reagan when he warned, “If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”
