President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to head the State Department may be on track for a Monday confirmation vote on Trump’s first day in office.
Trump’s nominees continue to sail through the confirmation process as Democratic skeptics have failed to kill the momentum of any one nominee so far since former Rep. Matt Gaetz’s nomination to attorney general hit significant pushback. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Trump’s nominee to be the next Secretary of State, could be the first of Trump’s cabinet to be confirmed.
Rubio garnered bipartisan support during his confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on January 15.
