Trump Nominee Sponsored Amendment Protecting Pro-Lifers

President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is the reason the government doesn’t give money to entities that discriminate against pro-life health care providers.

In 2005, then-Rep. David Weldon, R-Fla., first proposed the Weldon Amendment, which prevents Department of Health and Human Services funds from going to entities that discriminate against providers that don’t pay for, provide, cover, or refer for abortions. The amendment has been readopted in every HHS appropriations bill since 2005.
