President Donald Trump made a promise throughout the campaign that he would secure the Southern Border on Day One. Monday evening, before heading out for his inaugural ball, Trump signed several Executive Orders specifically designated to address the crisis at the Southern border.
Each one outlined how Trump planned to address this crisis.
National Emergency at the Southern Border
The first part of the Executive Orders targeted the role of the cartels in exacerbating border security. The second part focused on protection for states plagued by the illegal influx. The president also authorized the use of military force in order to manage the crisis and beat back the cartel networks.
