President-elect Donald Trump’s plans to begin mass deportations almost immediately upon taking office are taking shape, as Chicago has become a significant focus of the operation.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have reportedly been devising a plan called “Operation Safeguard,” an initiation of deportation efforts for illegal aliens in the Windy City. It is set to commence the day after Trump’s inauguration and run until the following Monday.
Sources have told the New York Times that around 150 agents will be sent to Chicago to conduct “post-inauguration” raids. The Times repeatedly refers to those being deported falsely as “immigrants,” neglecting to add the qualifier that they are “illegal.”
Legal immigrants will not be subject to deportation.
