Stunning news on Wednesday morning as Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) has passed away. Connolly was 75 and had been battling esophageal cancer.
In late April, Connolly announced that he would be stepping back from his leadership role due to health concerns and would not be seeking reelection in 2026 as his cancer had returned.

Connolly, who is 75, has served in Congress since 2009. Shortly before he was reelected in November 2024, Connolly disclosed that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and would be undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
