Isn’t California, you know, broke? Well, look, so they are. But that isn’t stopping Gavin Newsom’s profligacy, as the impeccably coiffed governor of the once-Golden state seems to operate on the principle “We can’t be broke; we still have some checks left!”
Some of those checks, it seems, are destined to go to electric vehicle buyers to replace the federal subsidies that President-elect Trump (never will get tired of that) is threatening to eliminate on day one. We are left wondering if those California checks won’t end up being made of rubber.
