The recent mass shooting at a Colorado Springs LGBTQ nightclub was a tragedy and it’s also led to the usual rounds of public debate about gun control, mental health, and all the rest. One aspect of the story that only emerged later casts a bit of a different tone, however. It’s been confirmed by multiple sources that a lot more people would probably have died were it not for the actions of two heroic people who charged the gunman and beat him with his own weapons, putting an end to the killing.
