WWE Hall of Fame Wrestler Kevin Nash Reveals What Killed His 26-Year-Old Son

WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Kevin Nash opened up this week about the death of his 26-year-old son, Tristen Nash, late last week.

The family said in a statement late last week that Tristen and Kevin had just started working together on Kevin’s new podcast and that they were enjoying spending time together.

Kevin Nash said during his “Kliq” podcast on Monday that his son died from a seizure that was caused by a decision to give up alcohol cold turkey.

“The seizure caused the cardiac arrest,” Nash said, according to Wrestling News. “He was basically dead in his room on the floor with the EMT working on him. They got him back and got him in the ambulance and they tried to save his life. So to the people at Halifax hospital, doctors and nurses, I thank you.”

“We both decided that we were going to stop drinking so it was a situation where you know we both went cold turkey. I don’t think either of us felt great because you stop drinking coffee for a day and you get a headache. I think we were both dealing with it.”

Kevin Nash said that the decision to quit drinking came after there had been “a couple of incidents,” including a situation at the start of the year that caused his son to be hospitalized for approximately two months.

“When you look back at things, it’s like, so he wasn’t feeling good. So we were kind of, my wife and I were just kind of like waiting on him hand and foot,” he said. “We knew he was trying to do this. One of the things that if you WebMD that, one of the things of cold turkey is that you have an increased risk of having a seizure.”

He said that his son’s heart was so damaged by the heart attack that doctors told him as his son was being rushed to the hospital that he was not going to make it.

Kevin Nash is a self-described Democrat who advocates for the LGBTQ community. Nash played college basketball for the University of Tennessee before later joining the U.S. Army.

After later hurting his knee while playing basketball in Europe, Nash decided to pursue professional wrestling, where he won several world title belts and nearly two dozen championships.

TMZ reported that Tristen Nash’s death comes after Kevin Nash lost one of his best friends earlier this year, Scott Hall, 63.
