Wyoming Moves to Curb Foreign Influence in State Elections

Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon has signed into law a bill that bans foreign influence in Wyoming’s elections.

House Bill 0337 prohibits any foreign national from participating in the decision-making of any group that is required to file with the secretary of state. That includes political action committees and organizations attempting to influence a statewide initiative or referendum. 

The move comes after Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray sounded the alarm about foreign election interference in the Cowboy State in a letter to county clerks in 2023.

“I am writing to warn and caution against any attempts made by third parties to fund the administration of elections in Wyoming,” Gray said at the time.
